Description
Introducing the MotoGP 2006 mod. The last year of the GP990 machines, in my opinion, the best ever MotoGP era. Each bike has been developed using real-world data where available, with a focus on replicating authentic chassis behavior, engine character, and overall handling. The result is a riding experience that aims to reflect the distinct personality of every machine on the 2006 grid in the most realistic way possible. This mod is recommended for intermediate-advanced players. Please note it might take some time to get used to, so please be patient.
Main Features:
Tyres Brands:
Three tyres manufacturers from the 2006 season are included:
Michelin
Bridgestone
Dunlop (not added yet)
Tyres are designed based on an extensive research using interviews, race reports and articles from that time to develop and recreate distinctive characteristics of each brand, especially regarding stiffness, wear rates, working temperature range, trail braking and more. To maintain balance, the differences are tightly calibrated.
Compound Allocation:
FRONT / REAR
- Soft A – Softest option, ideal for smooth tracks and cool temperatures
- Soft B – Slightly stiffer than Soft A, works on slightly warmer temperatures
- Medium A – Base compound, highly versatile for almost every condition
- Medium B – Slightly stiffer than Medium A, works on warmer temperatures
- Medium C – Stiffest option, designed for very high temperatures, heavy load and bumpy tracks
- Rain Medium – Ideal for wet conditions (not fully developed yet)
- Qualify (Rear Only) – Used for time attack sessions, very high wear rate
Each bike have its own accurate characteristic regarding chassis, geometry and engine power delivery:
Chassis:
Every bike has its own chassis stiffness parameters, inertia and characteristics. The development is based on feedbacks and interviews, as well as academic studies
Engine:
Every bike has its own engine specifications with 4 selectable engine maps:
- Mapping 1 = most powerful
- Mapping 4 = least powerful (less fuel consumption)
- Launch Control = Used for launch sequence, not all teams were utilizing it
ECU:
All bikes utilize standard Baseline ECU parameters, with minor adjustments to Engine Brake Control for each team
Gearing:
4 gear ratio options available for 1st to 6th gear, crafted by taking as reference the relative SBK counterparts
Suspensions:
The only difference between the suspensions of each bike is the diameter of the forks.
Geometry:
Main geometry parameters (rake, trail, wheelbase, etc.) are matched to real-life specs.
The current version contains the following bikes and teams:
- Yamaha YZR-M1 Camel Yamaha Team (Michelin)
- Ducati Desmosedici GP6 Marlboro Team (Bridgestone)
- Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR Kawasaki Racing Team (Bridgestone)
Each bike have Unique engine character/sound for onboard view and external view. I added revs in the idle sample to add immersion, e.g when all the bikes are waiting on the grid before the start of the race.
The riders skins and helmets are included and can be found in game by the “MGP06” Prefix
